As much as any other field of healthcare, organ and tissue transplantation are treatment care-intensive both before and after transplant. Organ post-transplant care requires regular invasive biopsies to make sure that the organ is not being rejected.
Biopsies require a full complement of medical personnel to extract the necessary cells from the organ. Those cells are then sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Many people believe that once a person receives a transplant medical expenses ease. To a certain extent they do. But not significantly through the first few years after transplant.
Most patients are also not medical debt-free at the time of transplant.
CODA will use this program to help relieve the financial stress of those patients who need it. |
